Springtime

I made this card together from scraps. tulipsThe stamp is from SU A Flower for All Seasons.  The card is 5  1/2 inches square.  The flower is from Wal-Mart with a Dew Drop in the center.  I tried coloring the image with my Prismacolor pencils but couldn't get to the edges so my friend finished it for me.  The scalloped circle CS is Pansy Purple.

Didn't do much today except play games with Sam and Samantha.  The cast has been on for 5 days.  I have 2 1/2 more weeks to go.  I am ready to be out and about.

Ladybugs

Ladybugs This card was a co-operative effort.  A friend came over today to help me with some cards.  She cut the ladybugs out with my Cricut.  The stamp is Hero Arts, the gingham is retired CTMH.  I colored the the image with my Prismacolor pencils and chalked the sky light blue.

It seems like it has been forever since I last posted.  Monday I got my stitches out and a hard cast put on.  I asked my surgeon what I could and couldn't do with my right hand.  His reply was "I don't want you using your hand at all."  He did allow me to key board.  I have to hunt and peck with my right hand.  I probably did more than I should have when I had the big dressing on so I am taking it very easy and following dr's. orders.  He told me I could drive if it was on dry pavement.  LOL.  We live on a side road and it will be snow covered and slippery until April. I get the cast off Feb 18 and hopefully can wear a soft splint.  On the way home from the doctor's office we had a flat tire and the next day had to get two new tires, because the flat was ruined.

We are going to have a warming spell and that means more snow.

Samantha is coming up tonight for the weekend.  And Sam is anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Simple and Elegant

That is what my grandson called this card.copycat It was quite an easy card to make.  The paper is Little Yellow Bicycle and is double sided which is the green tag that I cut with My Cricut's Basic Shapes.  The flower was in my stash-most likely from Wal-Mart.  I used Clover Meadow to stamp the sentiment which I think is from CTMH.  I got the idea for this card from Melanie on Hands, Head and Heart.

It was cold and crispy here today.  I tried to use the Swiffer on my kitchen floor after Jim put the pad on but my left hand wouldn't cooperate, so guess who did it.  Then he did both bathroom floors.  I am tired because I didn't sleep good last night.  Had a bottle of Pepsi with caffeine but it sure tasted good.  And Sam was out late with his friends.  While I don't wait up for him, I have a hard time getting back to sleep when he does get home.  In his counseling class (he's a psych major) the prof   asked for a volunteer at the beginning of class. Sam raised his hand.  Sam was to be the counselor and the prof the patient.   Sam did everything right and got extra credit to boot.  It is time to get some dinner.

I Can Stamp Left Handed!

Jim and I had to go to Petoskey to see the dermatologist.hedgehogs  Afterward we stopped at Ben Franklin and they had this adorable Penny Black "Hugs" stamp set.  They are clear with about 13 stamps in the set.  It was so darned cute that I thought I would try to stamp.  This card idea was on the back of the set.  I was able to cut the ribbon left handed and I tied the bow using the fingers of my right hand and pulling it tight with my teeth.  CS colors are Ocean and Holiday Red from CTMH.  I used Prismacolor pencils on the flowerpots and flesh part of the hedgehogs.  The ladybugs and flowers are Marvy markers.  I chalked the sky and grass.  The only thing that bothered my right thumb was when I was using my fingers to hold the card while I glued with my left hand.  I think I will be using glue dots for awhile.  Monday I go for my first post op visit to get the stitches out and a hard cast put on.

My 1st Card Since Surgery

purple vase This card was quite easy.  The CS is a 51/2 inch square card from Lasting Impressions.  The vase and flowers are from CTMH Paper Garden.  I used three flowers and vase from Cricut's Walk in My Garden cartridge.  I cut the images before my surgery but am quite capable of using the Cricut left handed.  I am falling asleep at my computer so think I will take a nap.  Later.

No Sling Needed

100_2304 Today  my 72 hours are up and I do not have to have my arm up all the time.   We have been having very cold temps.  Right now it seems calm and the sun is shinning.   Now that I don't have to keep the sling on 24/7 I can use the hunt and peck method.  I have to use the mouse with my left hand.

We don't feed the deer, they just help 100_2305themselves to the birdseed  Do you see the one standing on  his hindlegs eating out of the feeder?  This is in our backyard.

Table Scraps

All the stuff for my card was laying on my desk.  cardinal 2The cardinal on the fence was all cut out.  I just looked through the scraps on my table and put it together.  I had several scraps of paper and stamped images and wanted to see how many cards I could make.  The number was three and the scraps that were left went into the trash can.  The ribbon was not on my desk but on a shelf underneath.  You can't see it in the photo but the cardinal and fence are popped up.

Today a friend came over and we played with my Cricut.  She was giving me some pointers.  And then we placed an order with CTMH.   And now my desk is a mess again.  But I only have three more days to stamp before thumb surgery.  And if I can't stamp because of my surgery maybe it will stay neat for awhile.  LOL.  It's bedtime.

Come Out and Play

penguin I have been having trouble getting my cards to show up nice and clear.  Think I will try charging the camera battery.  CS is Colonial White.  I stamped the images with Spring Iris and inked the edges.  The striped paper is Asparagus "my husband." Although I think the colors are not very masculine.  The penguin is a button from Joann's.  Snowflakes are punched with Martha Stewart snowflake punch.  Images are from the Chillin' set from CTMH.

Am waiting to hear from the hospital for a phone interview.  Because my surgery is out patient and we live so far away I can do all the labs etc the day of surgery.  Don't know what time yet, only that I am the third one on the list.  Want to make a few more cards and then get my spot cleaned up.  I tried putting gel in my hair today with my left hand.  Wasn't too bad as the gel I was using was in a spray bottle.

Sam is home minus the love of his life.  Today he went to the college to get his books and hang out with some friends.

Jim had an idea the other day and it works quite well.  It seems like everyday we get an inch or two of snow that needs to be shoveled from the walkways.  We only have them out to the driveway.  He took his leaf blower and blew the snow away.  It works fine on fluffy snow, but probably wouldn't work on wet heavy snow.

Tomorrow I might see if  I can use my Cricut with my left hand to make some cards.    Good night.

Happy New Year

chickadeeI saw this card idea as a Christmas card somewhere in the blogsphere but didn't write down the name.  The patterned papers are Basic Grey's Wassail Collection.  The CS is White and CTMH's Grey Wool.  The chickadee stamp is from Stampin' Up and colored with Prismacolor pencils.   The dew drops are in a shadow but are red.

Now this pic you have to look at very closely100_2280.  It is my friendly little deer eating the greenery on our front deck.  His head is under the railing and his body is behind the post.  He was also sniffing the ground where he is standing because I have some heirloom daylilies planted there which are offshoots of my great grandparents day lilies.  I have bamboo stakes planted to try and keep away the deer.  Might have to put them closer.   This was a lazy day today.  I filled out our January calendar, made some cards, didn't have to do our church bulletin this week as we didn't have church last week and only one announcement is outdated.  Think I will go clean up my mess in my stamp area and get creative.
