Here are my thoughts on The Shack. I was ready to throw the book across the room, stomp on it, put it in the trash and burn it when I came to the part where God is portrayed as a woman. And I didn't like God being referred to as Papa. However I made myself keep reading and I couldn't put the book down. I liked the theme of forgiveness and how God wants to indwell in each of us. And the ending was so cool.

Interesting! I was thrown a bit, too, when God appeared as a woman. Once I understood why, however, I was OK with it. In addition to the forgiveness theme, I enjoyed the fact that the book drove home my belief that having a relationship with God isn't as difficult as we sometimes try to make it. Like I said, this would be a great book to discuss and share perspectives.
